The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has unlocked a new milestone in Maharashtra’s infrastructure journey by opening technical bids for Phase 1 of the Virar Alibaug Multi Modal Corridor (VAMMC).
The project, covering 96.47 km out of the total 126 km stretch, is one of the most ambitious road projects in the state and will play a critical role in decongesting Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), boosting logistics, and fueling regional economic growth.
On Thursday, technical bids were submitted by 14 top civil engineering companies, marking a decisive step forward. Financial bids will be opened after the Lok Sabha election model code of conduct is lifted.

Virar Alibaug Multi Modal Corridor Project Overview
The Virar Alibaug Multi Modal Corridor (VAMMC) is designed as an 8 to 14 lane access-controlled expressway, linking Virar in Palghar district with Alibaug in Raigad district.
Phase 1 will connect Navghar to Balavali (96.47 km), cutting across Raigad, Thane, and Palghar. The corridor will not only cater to passenger traffic but will also be a backbone for freight movement, linking JNPT Port, Navi Mumbai International Airport, and major industrial hubs.
