Broader Project Status
With the announcement of E5–E7 bids, financial bids for all packages of the Pune Ring Road have now been opened. However, final contracts for most packages remain pending.
Earlier in May 2024, MEIL, NECL, GRIL, PNC Infratech, and RSIIL were declared as the lowest bidders for E1–E4 and W1–W5 packages. In December 2024, RSIIL formally began construction on 24.50 km Package E4 at Wadebolhai village near Kesnand.
The 700 km Pune–Bangalore Expressway by NHAI, with its northern terminal at Pune Ring Road, will further amplify the project’s strategic importance.
Conclusion
The Pune Ring Road project remains one of Maharashtra’s most crucial infrastructure initiatives, set to transform urban mobility and economic growth. With Afcons and GRIL taking the lead on Packages E5, E6, and E7, the project edges closer to reality – though higher-than-expected bids may require extended negotiation before work commences.
